Landfill gas is biogas from landfills. In the Netherlands and many other countries in Europe, landfill gas from waste dumps is decreasing because landfills are closed and the (organic) waste is processed in waste incineration, composting or fermentation plants. Worldwide, however, a lot of organic waste is still dumped in landfills, resulting in landfill gas production. Enwell has years of experience in the field of engineering and realization of landfill gas projects and supplies complete landfill gas extraction systems.
Landfill gas extraction systems consist of:
Vertical landfill gas wells / gas drains;
HDPE piping systems for transporting landfill gas from the gas wells to the landfill gas plant;
Condensate separators and condensate drainage systems;
Collectors to which landfill gas sources are connected and where central control of gas sources is possible;
Landfill gas extraction installations (consisting of subsystems such as landfill gas drying, compression and flare(s) including the electrical control).
Enwell can carry out the full engineering of a landfill gas project. The engineering includes:
Determination of landfill gas production based on a theoretical gas production model;
Design piping and gas wells system (layout);
Dimensioning of piping systems (based on pressure drop calculations);
Design landfill gas extraction installation (P&ID).
Enwell can supply landfill gas extraction installations in fixed installations, containerized or on skids. The choice for the embodiment is largely determined by the capacity.

Landfill gas exploitation
Landfill gas extraction is a delicate process in which landfill gas sources and drains installed to extract the landfill gas must be adjusted as optimally as possible. The objective is to extract sufficient landfill gas to prevent odor nuisance and release of landfill gas into the atmosphere and also to be able to use landfill gas as fuel in boilers and/or gas engines, for example.
